Kahuna Philanthropy and St. Jude

In early 2002 Kahuna Business Group President Frank Lunn’s then 9 year-old son Frankie courageously battled and defeated leukemia with the tremendous help and support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the more than 6 months of his chemotherapy and treatments, Frank was compelled to write “Stack The Logs!” Building a Success Framework to Reach Your Dreams to provide others with a framework and strategy for success. It is based on wisdom and encouragement he received from his late father and refined in the witness and courage of his son’s struggle with leukemia.

Frank spoke for his entire family when he said, “We are blessed and thankful that Frankie’s story and outcome is a positive one. We also have grieved for the heartbreaking loss of friends we made during Frankie’s treatment. While St. Jude has made incredible progress in research and treatment of childhood diseases, it has not yet realized Danny Thomas’s dream that, “No child should die in the dawn of life”.

Frank and his business partners aligned their business with the mission and vision of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is their written goal to:

Increase awareness and initially raise One Million Dollars (one day’s operating expenses) for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in their mission of “Finding cures. Saving children.”
